Welcome to your resource hub, where environmental filmmakers can find support to bring powerful stories to life. You’ll find grants, funding opportunities, and services that can transform your creative vision into reality.
Igniting Impact Through Filmmaking
At The Redford Center, we believe that compelling stories can spark lasting impact. Our programs are designed to activate filmmakers, amplify community voices, and drive solutions to the environmental and social challenges we face today.
Whether you’re a seasoned filmmaker or a new changemaker, the opportunities below offer powerful pathways to connect, create, and contribute to a more just and sustainable future.

Fiscal Sponsorship
Our fiscal sponsorship program, which is not direct funding, allows sponsored filmmakers to solicit tax deductible donations through our extended 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and our Model C Regranting program.
We’re also proud to support our fiscally sponsored projects by offering ongoing networking and promotional support alongside fund management and distribution.
We accept applications on a rolling basis.

Redford Center Grants Open Call
Our flagship grant program provides funding and support for feature-length, independent environmental documentaries and their impact campaigns.
The next Open Call is expected in 2026 – check back in Fall 2025 for updates

NRDC Climate Storytelling Fellowship
The Redford Center is proud to support the NRDC Climate Storytelling Fellowship, in partnership with The Black List, NRDC’s Rewrite the Future program, The CAA Foundation, and NBCUniversal.
This program awards funding to selected writing teams to revise a feature screenplay or pilot that creatively and compellingly incorporates climate change.

Nature Connection Pitch
The Nature Connection Pitch seeks original, stand-alone short documentaries (30 minutes or less) that explore connecting with nature and the outdoors.
This opportunity celebrates filmmakers and stories that spotlight the physical, mental, spiritual, social, and planetary benefits of restoring and strengthening humanity’s relationship with the natural world.
We encourage projects that showcase the vast benefits that time outdoors can contribute to individual, community, and environmental health. Selected films receive funding, impact campaign training, professional development support, and valuable networking opportunities.
We prioritize filmmakers and stories from communities disproportionately affected by environmental challenges.
The application period is now closed, and future opportunities are pending confirmation.
