Groundswell

Groundswell is a sweeping documentary that travels the globe to reveal how farmers, scientists, and Indigenous leaders are using regenerative practices to restore ecosystems, combat climate crises, and reimagine agriculture as a powerful solution for healing the planet.

Groundswell is the culminating chapter in Big Picture Ranch’s acclaimed soil trilogy, following Kiss the Ground and Common Ground. Directed and produced by acclaimed environmental filmmakers Josh Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell, the documentary embarks on a global journey to spotlight farmers, scientists, Indigenous leaders, and change makers who are regenerating land and restoring ecosystems through time-tested and innovative practices.

As droughts, floods, and food insecurity intensify, Groundswell reframes agriculture not as a driver of ecological collapse, but as one of humanity’s most promising tools for planetary healing. Through intimate storytelling and striking visuals, the film demonstrates how regenerative approaches can rebuild soil health, draw carbon from the atmosphere, revive biodiversity, improve the nutritional value of our food and strengthen local economies. Groundswell is both a cinematic journey and a call to action, inviting audiences to reimagine our relationship with the land and recognize regeneration as a unifying path forward.
