Director Pieter Van Eecke is a Belgian documentary filmmaker with strong commitment to climate and social justice. He has directed several feature documentaries exploring climate change and its impact on vulnerable communities, including SAMUEL IN THE CLOUDS, HOLDING UP THE SKY, and PLANET B.
His films have screened at major international festivals and received numerous awards. SAMUEL IN THE CLOUDS won more than 15 international prizes, e.g. the Golden Hugo in the Chicago Film Festival, while Planet B received the Ensor Award for Best Documentary in 2023 after premiering at Visions du Réel. Holding Up the Sky premiered at FIFDH 2023 and was internationally picked up by broadcasters such as Al Jazeera and Deutsche Welle. THE FORECASTERS marks the fourth collaboration between Pieter van Eecke and production company Clin d’oeil films and is their most ambitious project so far.
