Jin Yoo-Kim

Producer

Jin Yoo-Kim is a Korean American producer/director hailing from Bolivia. She is currently producing Ann Kaneko’s feature documentary called “Manzanar, Diverted,” that expands the story of Manzanar, the Paiute-Shoshone Native land that was stolen to be used as the WWII concentration camp, revealing that water is at the heart of why Japanese Americans, Native Americans, and Farmers/Ranchers are fighting against the U.S. Army and the LA Department of Water and Power for control of this land. She is also co-producing “A WOMAN’S WORK,” a feature documentary directed by Yu Gu, chronicling former NFL cheerleaders that are exposing the NFL for illegal employment practices and wage theft. For both of these projects, Jin is the head of the impact campaign. Prior to these films, Jin co-produced Grace Lee’s “K-town ‘92,” an interactive web documentary revisiting the 1992 LA riots/uprising/saigu, where she managed the social media impact campaign. Jin has also co-developed the impact and digital campaign strategies for Waking Dream, a six episode series on America’s young undocumented community for Storycast by Independent Lens and PBS Digital Studios. Jin was a 2017 Firelight Media Impact Producing Fellow and she received her MFA from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and a BA in Psychology and Cinema & Media Studies from Wellesley College.
