The Sundance Family

Raise the River

The Raise the River coalition has worked with policymakers, water agencies, and governmental representatives from the U.S. and Mexico since 2012 to cooperatively create historic change for the Colorado River Delta for the benefit of the people and the enhancement of wildlife in the Delta. Members include: The Nature Conservancy, National Audubon Society, Pronatura Noroeste, The Redford Center, Restauremos El Colorado, and the Sonoran Institute.

League of Conservation Voters and Chispa

Since 2020, we’ve collaborated with LCV and Chispa for our Power the Vote civic engagement short film initiative, showcasing local activists, storytellers, and culture-makers as visionary leaders with the collective power to enact lasting environmental change. The League of Conservation Voters builds political power for people and the planet. Chispa is a grassroots community organizing program building the power of Latinx and communities of color in the fight for climate justice.

IF/Then Shorts

Since 2021, we’ve collaborated with IF/Then Shorts for the IF/Then x The Redford Center Nature Connection Pitch, an open call for short documentary films focusing on humanity’s connection with nature. With a focus on breaking systemic and structural barriers to access, IF/Then amplifies regional, community-centered stories and supports non-fiction filmmakers.

NRDC Rewrite the Future

We’ve proudly collaborated on two cycles of the Natural Resources Defense Council Climate Storytelling Fellowship, supporting feature screenplays or pilots that engage with climate change in a meaningful way. NRDC’s Rewrite the Future initiative aims to enlist the power of storytelling to help us turn the climate crisis around.

Far Star Action Fund

We are grateful for the support of Far Star Action Fund across several areas of work. Far Star Action Fund is a nonprofit that partners with filmmakers and organizations to advance solutions to the world’s challenges, focusing on good governance and civil society, the climate crisis and the environment, and STEAM education and systems thinking.

New York Community Trust

Since 2016, New York Community Trust has provided dedicated multi-year program funding for our Redford Center Grants Program.

Sundance TV

In 2022, we collaborated with Sundance TV for a limited release of our Power the Vote environmental voter activation short film series.

Environmental Grantmakers Association

We are members of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, an organization working with members and partners to promote just, effective philanthropy for people and the planet.

GoPro for a Cause

We’re proud to collaborate with GoPro in their GoPro for a Cause program — a nonprofit partnership and donation initiative to generate awareness and empower others to tell their stories. Their mission is to inspire social engagement by leveraging their products and global reach to help nonprofit organizations tell their stories. Through our partnership, we’ve been able to support our grantees with filmmaking equipment and learning opportunities.

Good Energy Playbook

In 2022, we contributed to the Good Energy Playbook, an open-source digital guide to portraying climate change on-screen. Our essay “Based on a True Story: Documentaries as Story Fodder” brought inspiration from environmental solutions documentaries to narrative film and television writers.

Grist

We’re proud sponsors of Fix, Grist’s solutions lab’s second annual climate fiction short-story contest, Imagine 2200: Climate Fiction for Future Ancestors. Grist’s hope is that this fiction contest, and the collection of stories they publish, will be part of an uprising of imagination — something we believe is necessary to get us out of this climate crisis.

Hollywood Climate Summit

We’re proud sponsors of the 2022 Hollywood Climate Summit, an annual event that brings key players in the entertainment industry together to drive action around climate change. The Summit is organized by Young Entertainment Activists (YEA!), an activist hub and creative production studio in the entertainment industry.
