Erica Sterne

Director

Erica Sterne is a Downtown Los Angeles-based director and producer currently in editorial on her first feature documentary, Brooklyn/Alaska. Brooklyn born and raised, Sterne comes from a family of rabble-rousing union organizers and intends to carry on her family’s legacy of activism through socially impactful films. Prior to Brooklyn/Alaska, Sterne worked for nine years in post-production. After studying film directing and production at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, Sterne began post coordinating studio feature films with industry mentors Wes Craven, Dito Montiel and Garry Marshall, eventually joining The Weinstein Company as Director of Post Production. Concurrent to her professional work, Sterne has produced a dozen short independent films and associate produced the feature documentary, Mateo. Her films have premiered at SXSW, Slamdance and Venice International. Most recently, Sterne produced the award-winning art film, Hi How Are You Daniel Johnston? and corresponding interactive exhibition currently touring galleries and festivals worldwide. With Brooklyn/Alaska, Erica returns to her directing roots and goal of using cinema for social change.
