Dominic Gill is a director and cinematographer, and is the co-founder of Encompass Films. His 2009 feature documentary Take a Seat won the Jury Prize at the Banff Film Festival. In 2017, his film Coming to My Senses was released on Netflix. Over the years, Gill has worked worldwide on adventure, travel and environmental films, winning a German cinematography award for his work on the feature documentary Riders of Destiny. His Mountainfilm credits include Above the Alley, Beneath the Sky (Mountainfilm 2015), Climbing out of a Disaster (Mountainfilm 2018), On A Wing and A Prayer (Mountainfilm 2019), The Linesman (Mountainfilm 2021), Art of Grind (Mountainfilm 2023) and, most recently, A Symphony of Tiny Lights (Mountainfilm 2024). More recently, his film Planetwalker was shortlisted for a 2025 Academy Award. Gill is the co-director of The [Conserv]atives (Mountainfilm 2026), alongside Nadia Gill, and the director of Feeding the Rat (and knowing when to stop) (Mountainfilm 2026). Gill brings both scientific rigor and cinematic heart to every story he tells.
