Andrew H. Brown

Director & Producer

Andrew (Huron-Wendat/Scottish) is an Emmy Award–winning filmmaker whose work explores land, memory, and the enduring relationship between people and place. Born in Alaska, the son of a fishing guide and bush pilot, he grew up immersed in river systems and remote community life that continue to shape his storytelling. He later spent more than a decade living and working across sub-Saharan Africa, first as a humanitarian and then as a filmmaker collaborating closely with local communities.

He is the director, cinematographer, producer, and editor of Kikuyu Land, nominated for the Grand Jury Prize for World Cinema Documentary at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Prior to that, Andrew directed, shot, produced, and edited Between the Rains, which won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary Feature and Best Cinematography at the 2023 Tribeca Festival and was nominated for IDA and Cinema Eye Honors. Additional credits include editing National Geographic’s Emmy-winning Path of the Panther; producing, shooting, and editing Kifaru (Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at Slamdance Film Festival 2019); was a producer of When Lambs Become Lions (Tribeca 2018) and was a cinematographer for Emmy Award nominated The Last Rhinos: A New Hope (National Geographic/Disney+).
