Our Vote is Our Spear

Hawaiian educator and cultural practitioner, Palakiko Yagodich talks about his decision to vote despite his resistance to participating in an unjust system.

2 minutes

For too long, many Native Hawaiians have chosen not to vote because doing so would mean participating in a system that has done so much damage to their environment and way of life. In Our Vote Is Our Spear, Hawaiian educator and cultural practitioner Palakiko Yagodich talks about the responsibility he has embraced to protect the place that has provided for families like his for generations. And he implores all of us to embrace our collective responsibility to vote to elect leaders who will make decisions that preserve the health of our communities and the fragile ecosystem that sustains them.
