Funding Independent Environmental Film
For 20 years, The Redford Center has been advancing environmental progress through the power of stories that move. We do this because we believe environmental storytelling is essential to solving some of our greatest environmental challenges.
Yet many impactful films struggle to secure the resources and opportunities needed to reach their full potential. We hope you can help us change that.
Co-founded in 2005 by activists and filmmakers Robert Redford and his son James Redford, The Redford Center is one of the only U.S.-based nonprofits solely dedicated to environmental impact filmmaking. With the generous support of the Erol Foundation, we’re pleased to present the 2026 Solutions Slate: a curated selection of eight documentary films that are uniquely positioned to accelerate environmental progress and urgently need additional investment.
Deep and steadfast support for independent environmental film is a defining characteristic of the Redford family’s legacy.
It can be part of yours, too.

“Our planet’s resources are limited, but there’s no limit to the human imagination and our capacity to solve bigger problems. And only by acting now and standing together can we begin to tip the scales and change the course of human history.”
