Jade Blair

Producer

Jade Blair is a Canadian writer and producer working across documentary, fiction, and short-form media. With a background in journalism, writing for outlets such as VICE, Hazlitt, and Yahoo News and more, she brings a critical and investigative approach to stories. She produced After the Last River, directed by Vicki Lean, a Canadian Screen Award–nominated documentary following the community of Attawapiskat as it confronts the impacts of extraction, continued colonialism and environmental collapse.

Alongside frequent collaborator, Victoria Lean, she is co-producing The Acid Rain Movie, a hybrid climate documentary, which is supported by Telefilm and the Canada Media Fund. She is also developing other projects focusing industry’s impact on natural spaces, including a true-crime style documentary investigating old-growth logging and police surveillance on the West Coast. Other work includes short-form projects for NGOs like UNICEF, #EndViolence, and re:generation, and the award-winning series Miss Misery, praised by CBC for its sharp, perceptive writing. Across her body of work, Jade uses irreverence and inquiry to reveal hidden systems of power, the ways we are complicit, and that the solutions that are often only a perspective shift away.
