Cait Fitzwater

Communications Director

Cait Fitzwater (she/her) is Communications Director at The Redford Center. She is a communications strategist and writer who prioritizes authenticity, creative expression, and personal narrative in her work in government and nonprofit cultural sectors. Prior to joining The Redford Center team, Cait was Director of Public Affairs at the California Arts Council, a state agency, where she spent eight years leading communications and special projects during a period of tremendous growth and transformation for public arts funding in California.

Before moving to California in 2013, Cait served as the marketing manager for New York Public Radio/WNYC, developing campaigns for broadcast, podcasts, and live events, including the Peabody award-winning program, Radiolab. She also managed marketing efforts for the Public Theater and Playwrights Horizons Theater in New York. Cait holds a bachelor’s degree in theater arts and communications from Towson University in Baltimore, MD and completed the Kennedy Center Executive Arts Management Fellowship in Washington, DC. She lives in Sacramento, the tribal land of the Nisenan people, with her husband and son.
