National Arts Policy Roundtable

Issues important to the arts are also important to society.

This is the premise on which the Redford Center co-convened the first National Arts Policy Roundtable with Americans for the Arts in October 2006.  Over the years the Roundtable has become a prominent annual forum for influential decision-makers and thought leaders who serve at the highest levels of business, government, philanthropy, civic and social sectors, education and the arts.  Participants share a commitment to the arts and a willingness to meet and recommend policies critical to the advancement of American culture and society.

Since 2006, over 100 leaders have convened at the Sundance Preserve to participate in Roundtable discussions focused on issues such as the future of private sector funding for the arts, the role of the arts in building a creative 21st century workforce, and the arts and civic engagement.

The goal of the Roundtable is to create actionable policy recommendations for both the public and private sectors to consider in advancing the topic. Following the Roundtable, Americans for the Arts disseminates a report on the policy recommendations developed, and promotes progress toward achieving them.

On September 24 - 26, 2009, 36 national and international leaders came together at the Sundance Preserve, for the fourth National Arts Policy Roundtable, to discuss The Role of the Arts in Strengthening and Inspiring the 21st Century Global Community. A full report on the findings and recommendations from the 2009 National Arts Policy Roundtable is under development and will become available from Americans for the Arts in the spring of 2010.
